What do Yetis, a maple syrup infused with cannabis terpenes, a magazine celebrating its 100th anniversary and a hospitality company turning guest complaints into comedic gold have in common? On the surface, absolutely nothing. But in the marketing world, they’re prime examples of brands turning potentially sticky situations into marketing brilliance.
The latest batch of creative runs the gamut: From the wild (courtesy of PETA), to the wonderful (The New Yorker’s mesmerizing parade of memorable covers).
Whether it makes you think about your phone screen time, rethink where you book your next stay in a new city or inspire you to buy more jewelry and/or less accessories made from animal skin, these campaigns are worth a look.
Another Marketing Trend: Yetis
Next up, frozen burger brand Bubba Burger and new AOR Familiar Creatures play up the so-called sensationalism of its product being “specially ground, 100% USDA Choice Chuck beef” when its own leading yeti is met with disbelief by his alien roommate, leading to an exchange as weird and hilarious as the concept and ensuing sight gag suggests.
